Christmas Reading List

I've decided to read too many books this month. I'm going to try and make it through eleven books by Christmas Day. We shall see if I can do it. All novels. All Christmas themed.

Books, Fiction

Alaskan Holiday by Debbie Macomber

Alaskan Holiday is a really good example of what I don’t like in a book. Sappy romance, a pretend strong female character, bad grammar, terrible plot, and over all not put together well. Upside: there is a dog.

Books, Fiction

The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker

Pat Barker retells the Iliad in The Silence of the Girls from a new and forgotten point of view: the women. Briseis was queen of a city before it fell making her a slave to Achilles. An entertaining story. Barker misses the mark for victims and survivors of abuse.

Small Business Saturday

I like to shop local. I like to shop small business. When I can support a friend, it's even better! I stopped by my friend Natasha's pop-up, Burd and Burdie, in River Oaks to celebrate Small Business Saturday.

Well-Read Black Girl

Glory Edim is the amazing woman behind the Instagram @wellreadblackgirl. I have been obsessively following her since I started my blog. Her book is a testament to the importance of books.
